Easy Cranberry Sauce Recipe With Orange
Every holiday, I whip out my easy recipe for cranberry sauce with orange. It’s an easy recipe for a substantial, jammy cranberry with the right balance of sweetness and orange citrus. The unique consistency of this easy cranberry recipe is achieved by holding back some of the cranberries until later in the cooking process.
Ingredients
- 4 cups cranberries (or 1 package)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 2-3 strips orange zest
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Wash cranberries, checking for and removing stems
- Using a zester or sharp knife, carefully cut 2-3 4″ strips of orange zest
- If using fresh oranges, squeeze juice from 1-2 oranges to get ~3/4 cup
- Set aside 1 cup of cranberries
- In a sauce pan, combine 3 cups cranberries, sugar, orange juice, water
- Cook on medium/high for 4-5 minutes until the cranberries crack
- Add remaining cup of cranberries and orange zest
- Continue to cook on medium for 3 minutes while stirring
- Turn off heat and allow to cool
- Put the sauce in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours before serving
